Týdeník Kroměřížska (The Kromeriz District Weekly), June 19, 2001

In the period from January to March, the Plastika VD Kroměříž company reached a profit of CZK 161 million, which means an increase of 28 per cent when compared with previous year. Its profit increased from CZK 350,000 to CZK 5.6 million, the chairman of the co-operative, Mr. Miroslav Kundera, told the press.

Half of the profits made were thanks to plastic keyboards and other computer parts. Fifteen per cent of the proceeds were due to the production of products and components for the automotive industry. Plastika delivers parts for Octavia, Fabia, Opel and Mercedes cars. About a third of the sales were products for the electrotechnical and information industry. Half of these sales were supplies to the company's second largest customer, the multinational Flextronics company. The rest of the sales were road marker posts and ventilators.

The company exported about 75 per cent of its production. Its main customer was Germany, larger amounts were also delivered to France, The Netherlands and the U. K. Among other countries of export were Hungary and Slovakia.

In early 2001, Plastika invested CZK 6.5 million into assembly production. In this year, the company is planning to spend a further CZK 2.5 million on machinery in the tool shop.

The company is planning to earn CZK 620 million and reach a profit of CZK 13 million. "We are currently preparing projects for other foreign customers for the next year, in which we expect our profits to increase by a fifth," Kundera concluded.
